Peruvian Hass avocado exports are projected to grow by up to 15% by 2026, according to official forecasts.
Peruvian Hass avocado exports are maintaining a positive trend and could increase between 10% and 15% in 2026, according to preliminary estimates from the agricultural export sector. This growth would be supported by increased field productivity, stable production conditions, and the consolidation of international markets.
During 2025, Peruvian Hass avocado exports reached record levels, solidifying Peru’s position as one of the world’s leading suppliers of this fruit.
Peruvian Hass Avocado Exports Reach Record High in 2025
According to the Peruvian Hass Avocado Producers and Exporters Association, Peru exported 722,754 tons of Hass avocados in 2025, representing a 38% increase compared to the 523,035 tons shipped in 2024.
This figure surpassed the previous record of 578,465 tons set in 2023, marking a new milestone for Peruvian Hass avocado exports.
A key aspect is that the increase in export volume was not due to a significant expansion of the cultivated area. In 2025, 83,529 hectares were planted, only slightly more than those reported in 2024 and 2023. This confirms that the growth stems primarily from improvements in productivity.
Productivity Boosts Peruvian Hass Avocado Exports
The increase in Peruvian Hass avocado exports is due to the adoption of improved agricultural practices, especially among small and medium-sized producers. Key factors include:
Efficient irrigation management
Improved crop nutrition
Specialized pruning techniques
Preventive pest and disease control
These improvements have allowed for increased yield per hectare without significantly expanding the cultivated area, strengthening the sector’s competitiveness.
Main Markets for Peruvian Hass Avocados
Currently, Peruvian Hass avocados have access to 70 international markets, including the 27 countries of the European Union.
In 2025, the main destinations were:
Europe: 455,335 tons (63% of total exports)
United States: 101,137 tons (14%)
Chile: 65,048 tons
China: 43,365 tons
Japan: 21,683 tons
Within the European market, the Netherlands experienced the greatest growth, consolidating its position as a key logistics hub for continental distribution.
Leading Hass Avocado Production Regions in Peru
La Libertad continues to lead national production with 19,106 hectares, followed by Lima, Ica, and Lambayeque. Other notable regions include Áncash, Huancavelica, Ayacucho, Arequipa, Apurímac, and Cusco, demonstrating the territorial expansion of avocado cultivation in recent years.
2026 Projection: Growth Between 10% and 15%
The president of ProHass indicated that a preliminary projection estimates that Peruvian Hass avocado exports could grow between 10% and 15% in 2026. This estimate will be adjusted in March, when more consolidated information from the field is available.
The positive scenario is based on:
Productive recovery and stability
Greater technical expertise among producers
New areas coming into production, mainly in the highlands
Strengthening of international markets
However, the sector remains cautious regarding potential weather conditions associated with El Niño, which could generate moderate agro-climatic risks.
New Markets for Peruvian Hass Avocados
The agricultural export sector is working to enter new destinations such as Taiwan, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, and Mexico. In addition, the Philippines opened its market in October 2025, and shipments are expected to begin soon.
Latin America accounts for more than 70% of the Hass avocados traded worldwide, representing a strategic opportunity to solidify Peru’s position as a reliable and competitive supplier.
